I chose lyrics that evoke the collective mystery and unknown future without aversion of the Dead in our lives. After years of shows, we’ve all “been there so long we’ve got to calling it home.”  As this band has evolved so has our experience of it, from my first show back in the 1980s to my last one, they do “all melt into a dream.” We all process change in our own unique ways, some look for information, look for clues to the future, “tell me all that you know” help me fill in the blank of the unknown.  Other folks will dig in to the mystery and ask “is this the end or beginning.”  Some will offer advice, “laugh, in the sunshine, sing, cry in the dark, fly through the night."  In addition to the lyrics and their meanings these keychains give us something to “hold on to” as we listen to the “sweet songs, to rock [our] souls.
